This was a record-breaking year for Cherry Creek High School’s Power Week. With the hard work and creativity of the students of Cherry Creek, the school was able to raise over $65,000 in one event packed week.
The kids of Cherry Creek dazzled us with a variety of talents at the talent show. There were singers, dancers, and pianists. The jugglers from the CCHS juggling club were a real treat. There were also kids who threw food, goldfish crackers and mini marshmallows, and caught them in their mouths, much to the audience’s delight. Their creativity made it an event to remember.
Many local restaurants participated in Restaurant Nights all week, donating a percentage of their sales to the CCHS Power Week. Participants included: Chipotle, Bird Call, Crumbl Cookie, and Modern Market & Noodles and CO
The kids at school dressed up in a different theme every day of the week to keep the spirit of the week going! They dressed up like cowboys, bikers and album covers to name a few.
The Mr. Creek Event happened on Thursday. Mr. Creek is a competition between 12 boys that are nominated by their respective club/group. They each put on a funny and over the top routine and a winner was chosen by audience applause.
The week ended with an epic pep rally. There were performances by national champions, the CCHS Poms, as well as, the AquaPoms, and the whole group of Mr. Creek candidates performed a choreographed dance routine together!
Things got even more exciting with a bag stuffing contest, where four students, one from each grade, raced to stuff a Bag of Fun. An underclassman was the proud winner.
Leading up to the final donation, the senate kids dashed for cash! They ran through the gym seats with buckets for one last cash donation collection before the Activities Director at CCHS presented Tammy, our director, with a check for $65,000!
We can’t stress how hard the kids worked on making this week happen! The Student Senate spent months putting the events of the week together. They worked directly with us to come up with giveaway items. Leading up to the Power Week, they sold “Power Packs” filled with t-shirts, sweats, various other Bags of Fun items, as well as entrance into all of the week’s events.
We want to say a huge “Thank You!” to Cherry Creek High School. The whole school came together and enjoyed the power of play so they can bring joy, laughter and relief to so many kids in the community!
